Rashmi is a registered Yoga Alliance teacher. While growing up in India, she has been learning and practicing yoga right from her childhood. She feels extremely fortunate to have received her formal 200HR teacher training from Senior Para Yoga teacher  Lauren Jay Toolin from Yoga Vidya Teacher Training program in April 2013. 
She has been engaged in learning with wide variety of teachers like Rajeshree Tupe from Shriyog Institute, Pune and Eileen Muir from Karuna Center for Yoga & Healing Arts. Her teachings are quite influenced by the precision and clinical approach as explained by Guruji BKS Iyengar.  


Teachings:
She is also a certified Kripalu Yoga in Schools Instructor where in she teaches a curriculum designed by Kripalu School of Yoga in association with Harvard Medical School. She likes to explain this ancient science to kids and teenagers in a way that helps them to relate to their daily lives and apply it intelligently and mindfully in their practice of asanas.

She teaches beginner level Hatha Yoga that involves asanas, pranayama and meditation. Her teachings reflect a deep understanding of the roots of Yoga and its philosophy. Her emphasis is on the breath and mindfully moving through the asanas. She encourages her students to listen to their own bodies while offering modifications when necessary with precise alignment techniques.

Rashmi has taught at various locations in the Capital Region including Albany Hindu Temple, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, The Bone and joint Center, Ophthalmic Consultants, Crystal IS, to name a few. 


Off the Mat:

Rashmi holds a Masters Degree in Computer Science. She works as a Consultant/Database Architect at Global Foundries. 
Having experienced firsthand the stresses involved in a fast-paced corporate job, she is motivated to bring yoga to the corporate world. She strongly believes in the benefits that this ancient philosophy can bring to each and everyone’s daily life. She is also very keen on teaching yoga and meditation to kids as she has seen the benefits of the practice with her 2 young kids. She aspires to bring yoga in public schools. 
For her yoga is a journey of each individual within themselves, enabling them to practice at their own individual pace and ability. She believes that dedicated Yoga practice can help every individual, irrespective of age or gender, discover the inner calm, strength and peace of mind that already resides within all of us. 
Rashmi is also trained in Indian Classical Dance “Kathak” and a assistant faculty at Aakriti School of Dance, enjoys hiking and photography and most of all spending time with her family.
